Oki LED Printing Technology
Most Oki printers use LED printing technology instead of a traditional scanning laser system.
Instead of using a moving laser beam, Oki printers use a fixed LED array that spans the width of the page. This reduces moving parts inside the printer and helps make many Oki models more compact and mechanically simpler than comparable laser printers.
From a user perspective, the output quality is effectively the same as standard laser printing, with sharp text and consistent colour reproduction.
Getting the Most from Your Oki Toner
Do not confuse the C310 and C332 toner series. The older C310/C330 series uses the 44469755–44469757 range, while the newer C332dn and MC363dn use the 46508717–46508720 set. The cartridges are physically different and are not interchangeable.
Compatible toner bundles can significantly reduce running costs. For entry-level Oki printers with smaller page yields, compatible 5-pack and 10-pack bundles can provide much lower printing costs for regular colour office printing.
Handle image drums carefully during toner replacement. Avoid touching the green drum surface with your fingers, as oils from skin can permanently affect print quality. Do not leave drums exposed to bright light for long periods.
Shake toner cartridges gently before installation. Toner powder can settle during storage and transport. A few slow horizontal shakes before installation helps distribute toner evenly.
Monitor drum life separately from toner life. On Oki colour printers, toner level and drum life are tracked independently. Installing a new toner cartridge will not fix print quality problems caused by a worn drum unit.
All page yields listed are based on ISO/IEC 19798 colour testing and ISO/IEC 19752 monochrome testing at 5% page coverage. Actual page yield varies depending on document type, colour density, and print settings.
Genuine vs Compatible Oki Toner

1. My Oki C310dn shows a "Toner Low" warning for cyan after only around 800 pages. The cartridge is rated for 2,000 pages. What is happening?
Page yield figures are based on 5% page coverage. If your office prints colour-heavy documents, logos, graphics, or photos, toner usage can be much higher than the ISO test standard. Oki printers also trigger low toner warnings before the cartridge is completely empty.
Is there a compatible version of the 46490612 black toner for the MC573dn?
Yes. Compatible versions of the 46490612 black toner and the matching colour cartridges are available for the C532dn, MC563dn, and MC573dn series.
2. I replaced the toner in my Oki MC363dn but still see horizontal bands across the page. Is the toner faulty?
Persistent horizontal banding after toner replacement usually indicates a worn image drum rather than a toner problem. Check the drum status through the printer menu under Supplies Status.
3. Can I use the 44469805 black toner from a C330 printer in a C332dn?
No. The C332dn uses the newer 46508720 toner cartridge, which is physically different from the older C310/C330 series cartridge system.
4. The compatible 45862844 black toner in our MC853dn shows "Toner Low" immediately after installation. What should we do?
This can happen if the cartridge chip was not recognised correctly. Power the printer off completely, remove and reseat the cartridge firmly, then restart the printer. If the issue continues, the cartridge chip may be faulty.
5. Do I need to replace all four image drums at the same time in my Oki C532dn?
No. Each drum unit is monitored separately and wears independently depending on how much of each colour is used.
