Colour LED and laser printers like the Oki C532dn perform routine drum spins during mono printing. To avoid unexpected downtime, keep spare Cyan, Magenta and Yellow cartridges on hand, as a completely exhausted colour toner will stop all printing tasks even if black toner remains abundant.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my printer report low yellow toner when I mostly print black and white?
Oki LED colour printers perform periodic calibration routines using small amounts of all four toners to maintain registration and colour accuracy. Even when printing strictly in black text, cyan, magenta and yellow toner levels gradually decrease over time.
Can I mix genuine Oki toners with compatible 46490609-46490612 cartridges?
Yes, you can run compatible toners alongside genuine Oki cartridges without issue. The printer reads each cartridge chip independently, so you can replace individual colours with compatible versions as genuine ones run out.
Will the printer accept 46490612 black toner if the image drum is near its end of life?
Yes, toner cartridges and drum units function as separate components in Oki C532 and MC500 series printers. Installing a new 46490612 black toner will work normally, though you should schedule a drum replacement when page count warnings appear to avoid faint output.
Is 46490612 the same as 46490612-01 or 46490612 toner?
Yes, 46490612 refers to the high-yield black toner cartridge for Oki C532 and MC573 printers. Some suppliers append regional suffixes like 46490612-01, but they represent the exact same physical cartridge.
