Ink cartridges drop ink onto the paper in exactly the right place at extremely high speed during printing. With Epson ink, this is achieved using their electric-current-controlled piezo crystals, rather than the more traditional method of thermal print heads which use heat to generate bubbles that force ink through the nozzles.
With Epson’s piezo crystal technology, crystals are embedded into printer heads and change shape in response to electric currents and the Epson printer ink is pushed onto the paper. Using this technology Epson’s print heads can deliver up to 50,000 extremely accurate droplets each second for quality results in every print.
Epson’s heat-free technology can result in faster printing and time savings. And because there is no heat damage to the printheads they last longer than with thermal printers, which in turn reduces the environmental burden of manufacturing and recycling these additional resources.

Original Epson ink cartridges offer outstanding print quality for professional photographs and are designed to fit perfectly and work seamlessly with the printer. Compatible cartridges are designed by third party manufacturers to closely resemble and work like genuine cartridges with similar quality and page yield but at a fraction of the cost of genuine ink cartridges.
All Epson ink cartridges come printed with an expiration date before which it must be used. This period can range from 18 to 24 months. Epson also recommends replacing an ink cartridge that has been installed in the printer after 6 months.
Epson printers are designed to alert the user when the cartridge ink levels are low, either through flashing lights or notification depending on the printer model. If there is no alert about low ink levels but it has been more than 6 months since the cartridge was installed or if the print quality declines, it is time to change the ink cartridge.
These printers have tanks that can hold enough ink to last for up to two years of use or equivalent to 20 ink cartridges. As a result, you can save on Epson printer ink and minimise the need to restock your ink.
