DYMO is the most widely recognised label maker brand in Australia, found in home offices, school classrooms, warehouses, electrical switchboards, and everywhere in between.

Ink Depot stocks the full current DYMO range from entry handheld models through to industrial Rhino label makers, all in stock with Australia-wide delivery and free shipping on orders over $99.

LetraTag: Entry Handheld Label Makers

LetraTag models are the most affordable DYMO label makers, designed for home organisation, basic office labelling, and light use.

They use direct thermal LetraTag tape, no ribbon required, which keeps the cartridge cost low.

The trade-off is label durability: LetraTag labels are more vulnerable to heat, UV, and moisture than D1 thermal transfer labels, making them better suited to indoor labelling that won't be exposed to harsh conditions.

DYMO LetraTag 100H : Battery-powered handheld with a QWERTY keyboard.

Uses LetraTag tape in 12mm width.

The 4-pack bundle includes labels and is worth considering if you're equipping multiple desks or classrooms.

DYMO LetraTag 200B : Bluetooth-connected LetraTag that pairs with the DYMO Label app on iOS or Android.

Design labels on your phone and send to the printer, no keyboard on the device itself.

Suited to users who prefer designing on a larger screen and printing on demand.

DYMO LetraTag 100T : Tape version of the 100H with a slightly different form factor.

Uses the same 12mm LetraTag tape cartridges as the 100H.

LabelManager: Office & Professional Label Makers

LabelManager models use D1 thermal transfer tape, a ribbon-based system that produces more durable labels than LetraTag.

D1 tape is UV-resistant, moisture-resistant, and rated for temperatures from -40°C to +80°C, making it suitable for labels that need to last years indoors and hold up in moderate outdoor or industrial conditions.

All LabelManager models support tape widths from 6mm to 19mm across the D1 range.

DYMO LabelManager 160P : Entry LabelManager with a QWERTY keyboard and basic formatting options.

Battery-powered, compact, and well-suited to a home office or desk drawer.

Uses D1 tape up to 12mm.

DYMO LabelManager 210D: A step up from the 160P with a two-line display, more formatting options, and a larger keyboard.

Uses D1 tape up to 12mm.

Good mid-range choice for regular labelling across files, shelving, and office equipment.

DYMO LabelManager 280P : Rechargeable lithium-ion battery, no AA batteries required.

Full QWERTY keyboard, graphical display, and a wide range of D1 tape widths up to 19mm.

The rechargeable battery is the key practical advantage for anyone labelling regularly and tired of replacing batteries.

DYMO LabelManager 360D : Rechargeable desktop/handheld with a large graphical display, QWERTY keyboard, and auto date/time stamping.

Stores frequently used labels for quick reprinting.

Supports D1 tape up to 19mm.

A reliable choice for office environments where labelling is done regularly and consistency matters.

DYMO LabelManager 420P : The most feature-complete portable LabelManager in the range.

Full QWERTY, rechargeable lithium-ion, large graphical display with label preview, auto date/time, stored label memory, and multiple font options.

Supports D1 tape up to 19mm.

Suited to professional environments, facilities management, IT asset labelling, stockrooms, where the label maker is in regular heavy use.

DYMO LabelManager Executive 640CB : Direct thermal desktop label maker, no tape cassette.

Prints on adhesive label rolls rather than tape cartridges.

Larger label format than standard handheld LabelManagers, suited to product labelling, asset tags, and address labels.

The 4-pack kit includes label rolls and is the better starting purchase if you're setting up a labelling station from scratch.

DYMO Rhino: Industrial Label Makers

Rhino models are built for trade and industrial environments, harder wearing than standard LabelManagers, with a rubberised housing and support for specialist tape types including heat-shrink, self-laminating, and flexible nylon.

All Rhino models also accept standard D1 tape for general labelling.

DYMO Rhino 4200 : Entry Rhino with a standard QWERTY keyboard and support for Rhino industrial tape types in 6–19mm widths.

A step up from LabelManager in durability, suitable for general trade use, electricians, facilities teams, light industrial environments.

Battery-powered.

DYMO Rhino 5200 : Adds support for heat-shrink tube tape and self-laminating tape to the Rhino 4200's capability.

Heat-shrink labels are essential for cable identification in electrical and data cabling work, the label shrinks around the cable when heated, creating a permanent, professional identification that can't slide off.

Runs on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

The most widely used Rhino model for electrical and data installation work.

What to Expect: Honest Guidance

LetraTag labels fade faster than D1 labels: use them for indoor, short-to-medium-term labelling.

LetraTag uses direct thermal printing, which means the label surface reacts to heat to produce text rather than using a ribbon.

The result is a lighter-weight label format that is perfectly adequate for file folders, storage boxes, and home organisation.

However, direct thermal labels fade more quickly when exposed to sunlight, heat, or handled repeatedly.

For labels on outdoor equipment, in hot environments, or anywhere they need to last years, the D1 tape used in LabelManager models is the right choice.

A rechargeable model pays for itself quickly if you label regularly.

The LabelManager 280P and 360D both use rechargeable batteries.

If you're replacing AA batteries in a 160P every few weeks because you use it often, the price difference to a rechargeable model is recovered quickly.

Occasional users, a label here and there, are better served by the 160P's simplicity.

For electrical cable labelling, heat-shrink tape requires the Rhino 5200 or 6000: the 4200 does not support it.

This is the most common source of confusion in the Rhino range.

The Rhino 4200 supports standard D1 tape and Rhino industrial tape, but not heat-shrink tube format.

If cable identification with heat-shrink is your primary use case, the Rhino 5200 is the correct starting point.

The LabelManager 640CB is quite different from the rest of the LabelManager range.

Standard LabelManagers use tape cassettes on a spool inside the device, you load a cassette and print.

The 640CB uses a label roll of adhesive stock without a cassette, more like a label printer than a traditional tape-based label maker.

It produces larger format labels suited to product tags and asset labels, but is not suited to the narrow cable and shelf labels the cassette-based models handle.

DYMO D1 tape is shared across most LabelManager and Rhino models: stock is interchangeable.

If your office has multiple LabelManager models, standard D1 tape (6mm, 9mm, 12mm, 19mm) works across all of them.

This makes it easy to maintain a single tape stock rather than buying model-specific supplies for each device.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What's the difference between LetraTag and LabelManager tape: can I use one in the other?

No, they use entirely different tape formats.

LetraTag tape cartridges are wider and use a direct thermal process with no ribbon.

LabelManager D1 tape cartridges are smaller, use a thermal transfer ribbon, and produce more durable output.

The two are not interchangeable in any way.

If you're unsure which format your DYMO model uses, check the model name: LetraTag models use LetraTag tape; LabelManager models use D1 tape.

2. Which DYMO label maker is best for an office that labels files, shelves, and cables?

The LabelManager 280P ($97.64) handles all three well.

It uses D1 tape in widths from 6mm to 19mm, has a rechargeable battery for regular use, and produces labels durable enough for years of indoor use.

If you also need to label outdoor equipment or want more label preview capability, the LabelManager 360D ($153.79) is the step up with a better display and more stored label memory.

3. Do the Rhino models work with standard D1 tape as well as industrial tape?

Yes, all three Rhino models (4200, 5200, 6000) accept standard DYMO D1 tape alongside their specialist Rhino industrial tape formats.

This means you can use the same D1 tape stock you use in a LabelManager for general labelling, and switch to Rhino industrial tape for cables, panels, and harsh-environment applications.

The Rhino 5200 and 6000 additionally support heat-shrink tube tape, self-laminating tape, and flexible nylon tape.
