Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the Canon PIXMA TR8560 use two different black ink cartridges?
The printer uses PGI-680 pigment black ink specifically for sharp, smudge-resistant text on plain paper, while CLI-681 dye black ink is blended with cyan, magenta, and yellow to produce deep contrast and rich shadow tones in photo and graphics printing.
Can I mix standard PGI-680 cartridges with XXL CLI-681 cartridges in the same printer?
Yes, all standard, XL, and XXL cartridge variants within the PGI-680 and CLI-681 range share identical physical dimensions and connector fittings. You can mix different yield capacities across individual colour slots without issue.
How does printing double-sided documents affect overall ink consumption?
Automatic double-sided printing slightly alters drying wait times between sides but does not consume additional ink. However, heavy duplex text printing will deplete the large PGI-680 pigment black cartridge faster than the CLI-681 colour cartridges.
