General FAQ
Ink consists of dye/pigment, solvents, water and additives. Pigments are dispersed in the ink solution without dissolving completely while dyes are completely dissolved in the ink. Each type has its own advantages. Pigment based inks are excellent for fadeproof, lightfast prints. Dye based inks offer subtle colour expressions that work well for photos.
In order to optimise the printing performance before every printing job, the inkjet printer undergoes an automatic cleaning process in which a small amount of ink is purged from the nozzles of all cartridges in order to prevent clogging. Similarly, when using an inkjet printer for the first time, small amounts of ink is consumed at the initialisation stage to get the device ready.
