Choosing Compatible Ink Cartridges
Using high-quality compatible cartridges for your mobile printer offers significant cost savings without sacrificing print legibility. Under Australian Consumer Law, using compatible cartridges does not void your printer warranty. Choosing the Right Cartridge Setup
If you print mainly text documents, purchasing the standalone 56 (C6656AA) Black cartridge provides the most efficient balance for daily paperwork. If you print photos or color diagrams, keeping a fresh 57 (C6657AA) Tri-colour cartridge on hand prevents sudden shade dropouts. Bundling both cartridges together lowers overall printing costs. All compatible items are backed by a complete money back guarantee if they do not perform as expected. Review our full returns policy for complete coverage details. Smart Cartridge Buying Tip
Because the 57 (C6657AA) Tri-colour cartridge features an integrated printhead, replacing the cartridge automatically renews the printing nozzles. When buying stock for mobile work, ensure unused cartridges remain sealed in their original protective packaging to prevent ink drying during transport.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do the HP DeskJet 450, 450c, 450cbi, 450ci, and 450wbt all use the same ink cartridges?
Yes. All printer variations in the DeskJet 450 mobile series share the exact same cartridge system, using the 56 (C6656AA) Black and 57 (C6657AA) Tri-colour cartridges interchangeably regardless of connectivity options like Bluetooth or battery attachments.
Can I print black text documents if the 57 (C6657AA) colour cartridge is empty?
Yes. The printer can operate in single-cartridge reserve mode using only the 56 (C6656AA) Black cartridge installed. However, keeping a functional colour cartridge in place prevents air from entering the carriage assembly during operation.
What is the expected shelf life of compatible 56 and 57 cartridges?
Sealed compatible 56 (C6656AA) and 57 (C6657AA) cartridges typically maintain a shelf life of up to 18 to 24 months when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Why is the printhead built directly onto these cartridges?
HP designed the 56 and 57 series cartridges with built-in printhead nozzles to suit portable use. This design eliminates the need for a permanent internal printhead inside the printer, reducing wear and ensuring fresh firing nozzles every time you install a new cartridge.
