Frequently Asked Questions
Do the HP OfficeJet Enterprise Colour X585d, X585f, and X585z all use the same ink cartridges?
Yes. All three models in the HP OfficeJet Enterprise Colour X585 range share the exact same HP 980 ink cartridge series, making supplies fully interchangeable across X585d, X585f, and X585z printers.
Can I replace individual colour cartridges as they run out on the HP X585 series?
Yes. The HP 980 cartridge system uses individual tanks for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. You only need to replace the specific colour channel that is depleted, which avoids ink wastage during heavy office printing.
How do HP 980 compatible cartridges compare to genuine HP 980 cartridges in high-speed printing?
High-quality compatible 980 cartridges are engineered to match the quick-drying ink requirements of HP PageWide technology, ensuring crisp text and consistent output without smudging or clogging during high-speed office print runs.
Why does the 980 black cartridge have a higher page yield than the colour cartridges?
Black ink is consumed at a much higher rate during standard business document printing. HP designed the 980 (D8J10A) black cartridge with a 10,000-page capacity to align replacement schedules with the 6,600-page 980 colour cartridges (D8J07A, D8J08A, D8J09A).
