Understanding large format ink output
Canon PFI-3700 700ml ink cartridges do not carry traditional page yield ratings because wide-format print ink consumption varies based on colour density, media selection and print size. Yields are estimated using ISO/IEC standards under continuous production printing conditions.
Ordering stock and delivery options
Order individual genuine Canon ink cartridges as individual colours deplete during heavy printing runs. High-use shades like Photo Cyan, Grey and Chroma Optimiser typically require dynamic reordering based on your graphics workflow. Free delivery applies on all orders over $99, dispatched quickly from our warehouses in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. All items are backed by our 100% money-back guarantee under our returns policy.
Hot-swapping and colour management tip
Canon imagePROGRAF GP printers feature an internal sub-cartridge buffer system. This allows you to hot-swap a depleted 700ml PFI-3700 ink cartridge mid-print without interrupting the print job or wasting expensive fine-art media.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Chroma Optimiser (PFI-3700CO) affect total ink usage on different paper types?
Chroma Optimiser is applied across glossy and semi-gloss media to regulate surface reflection and eliminate bronzing. It is automatically disabled when printing on matte or fine art rag papers, meaning consumption of PFI-3700CO depends entirely on your choice of media.
Can I replace a PFI-3700 cartridge while the printer is actively printing?
Yes. The Canon imagePROGRAF GP series uses an internal sub-cartridge reservoir system that draws ink continuously while you swap out the main 700ml cartridge, preventing job cancellation and media loss.
Why do photo shades like Photo Cyan (PFI-3700PC) deplete faster than standard Cyan?
Photo Cyan and Photo Magenta are used in high proportions across neutral tones, skin tones and lighter gradient areas to achieve smooth transitions without visible dot grain. Consequently, these light ink shades exhaust faster during photo printing than primary cyan or magenta.
Is PFI-3700PBK the same as PFI 3700 PBK?
Yes, PFI-3700PBK and PFI 3700 PBK refer to the exact same genuine Canon Photo Black 700ml ink cartridge. The hyphen is simply formatting, and both codes are used interchangeably by Canon and retailers.
