Expected Page Yield and Toner Capacity
Ricoh rates toner page yields according to standard ISO/IEC 19798 testing methods based on 5% page coverage. High-volume office printing that includes graphic elements or dense text will consume toner faster than standard benchmark tests indicate.
| Cartridge Number | Type | Colour | Page Yield | Cost Per Page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 842099 | Standard | Black | 17,000 | $0.005 |
| 842100 | Standard | Cyan | 6,000 | $0.025 |
| 842101 | Standard | Magenta | 6,000 | $0.025 |
| 842102 | Standard | Yellow | 6,000 | $0.025 |
Cost Per Page = Total Cartridge Price ÷ Page Yield (at 5% coverage). Prices based on Genuine cartridges.
Stocking Your Ricoh Cartridges
If your office produces mainly text documents, replacing the high-capacity 842099 Black toner as needed will maintain uninterrupted printing between colour cartridge replacements. We ship genuine Ricoh toner cartridges directly from warehouses in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide for fast delivery nationwide. Free delivery applies on all orders over $99. For details on returns or exchanges, review our Returns policy.
Pro Tip
Keep unopened Ricoh toner cartridges sealed in their original box and stored horizontally in a cool, dry room; storing cartridges vertically can cause the fine toner powder to settle unevenly, resulting in temporary faint output when first installed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the 842099 Black toner cartridge have a much higher yield than the colour toners?
In business printing, black toner is used for routine documentation and general administration far more frequently than colour toners. Ricoh supplies the 842099 Black cartridge with a 17,000-page capacity, whereas cyan 842100, magenta 842101, and yellow 842102 colour cartridges offer 6,000 pages to match balanced colour output cycles.
What does standard 5% coverage mean for actual Ricoh MP C406 toner life?
Page yields are measured using international standard ISO testing based on 5% toner coverage per page, equivalent to a short business letter. If your office prints full-page graphics, presentation slides, or heavy logos, page coverage will be higher, which reduces the total output before a cartridge needs replacing.
Can I replace individual colour toner cartridges as they run out?
Yes. The Ricoh MP C406 handles each colour toner independently, allowing you to replace only the depleted cartridge whether Cyan 842100, Magenta 842101, Yellow 842102, or Black 842099 without affecting the remaining toners.
