Expected page output and replacement cycles
ISO/IEC 19752 standards determine page yield ratings for these OKI monochrome toner cartridges based on 5% page coverage. High-yield 44992407 cartridges produce up to 2,500 pages, extending operational efficiency compared to standard 1,500-page 44992406 options.
| Cartridge Number | Type | Colour | Page Yield | Cost Per Page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 44992406 | Standard | Black | 1,500 | $0.17 |
| 44992407 | High Yield | Black | 2,500 | $0.14 |
Cost Per Page = Total Cartridge Price ÷ Page Yield (at 5% coverage). Prices based on Genuine cartridges.
Choosing between genuine and compatible options
Under Australian Consumer Law, using compatible cartridges does not void your printer warranty. Buying compatible 44992407 high-yield toner provides significant cost savings without sacrificing text sharpness or print reliability. Drum Units and Consumable Life
The OKI 44574310 drum unit operates separately from the toner cartridge and is rated for approximately 25,000 pages. Experience Tip: Because the drum unit lasts through up to ten 44992407 toner cartridge replacements, you only need to replace it when explicit drum wear messages appear on your printer display.
Best way to stock these cartridges
If you print routine business invoices and text reports, choosing high-yield 44992407 cartridges offers the lowest operating cost per page. All compatible cartridges are backed by a money-back guarantee. Pro Tip for OKI B401 Series Users
Always verify whether your printer requires a new toner or a replacement drum before ordering; replacing toner when the 44574310 drum unit has reached its 25,000-page lifespan will not clear image faintness caused by drum wear.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do the OKI B401d and B401dn use the exact same toner cartridges?
Yes, both the B401d and B401dn models share the same internal printing setup and accept identical 44992406 and 44992407 toner cartridges as well as the 44574310 drum unit.
Can I install a high-yield 44992407 toner cartridge if my printer previously came with a 44992406 cartridge?
Yes, the high-yield 44992407 cartridge uses the exact physical shell size as the standard 44992406, fitting into the exact same slot while holding additional toner for higher page capacity.
When should I replace the 44574310 drum unit versus the toner cartridge?
The toner cartridge supplies the black powder for printing, while the 44574310 drum transfers the toner onto paper. Replace the toner when ink runs low, and replace the drum unit only when the printer prompts for drum replacement after roughly 25,000 pages.
How does page coverage affect the yield of OKI 44992407 cartridges?
Declared page yields of 2,500 pages are calculated using standardised 5% page coverage. Printing heavy graphic borders or dense dark text increases toner consumption per page, naturally lowering total page output.
