Canon PC740 Toner Cartridges
Your Canon PC740 uses the E31 black toner cartridge. Ink Depot has been supplying consumables for this printer since Jul 2007. Designed as a dedicated desktop personal copier, this unit relies on an all-in-one cartridge design where replacing the E31 unit completely refreshes the toner supply and internal imaging components for crisp black text printing. Our 4.8 Google rating reflects a long-standing track record of premium cartridge performance.
Expected page output and replacement cycles
The high-capacity E31 black toner cartridge is rated to deliver approximately 3,500 pages. ISO/IEC 19752 standards govern monochrome laser toner page yield testing, based on standard 5% page coverage across routine text documents.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the E31 toner cartridge include the drum unit?
Yes, the E31 is an all-in-one cartridge design that incorporates both the toner reservoir and the drum element. Every time you replace the E31 cartridge, you automatically renew the primary printing mechanism.
Why does my printed page count vary from the 3,500-page yield rating?
The 3,500-page output is based on standard ISO/IEC testing with 5% page coverage. Printing dense graphics, heavy text documents, or large dark blocks uses significantly more toner per page, reducing total overall yields.
How long can an unopened E31 toner cartridge be stored before use?
When stored in its original sealed anti-static bag away from direct sunlight, high heat, and extreme humidity, an unopened E31 toner cartridge maintains full shelf life for up to two years.
