Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6300S Ink Cartridges
Your Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6300S printer uses the PFI-106 ink cartridges series along with MC-16 maintenance cartridges and PF-05 print heads, engineered as a 24-inch wide format system for commercial posters and display graphics. Ink Depot has been supplying reliable consumables for this printer since Nov 2016. Light tint channels like PFI-106PC and PFI-106PM deplete at different rates than high-density PFI-106MBK during continuous printing. Our 4.8 Google rating proves it: we consistently supply premium cartridges backed by rock-solid reliability.
Expected Page Output and Ink Usage
Page yield for PFI-106 pigment inks depends heavily on print coverage, media type, and image density across the eight colour channels. Standardised test charts provide baseline benchmarks, though actual ink consumption varies during continuous wide format poster and display printing.
Maintenance Components and Print Heads
Large format graphics printing relies on the PF-05 dual print head to deliver ink droplets across all eight PFI-106 channels, while the MC-16 maintenance cartridge collects excess ink generated during automated cleaning cycles. Experience Tip: The MC-16 maintenance cartridge is a standalone consumable designed to retain waste ink during regular printhead preparation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the imagePROGRAF iPF6300S require both PFI-106BK and PFI-106MBK inks?
Matte Black (PFI-106MBK) is formulated specifically for matte papers, fine art media, and technical substrates to produce deep black density without ink bleeding. Photo Black (PFI-106BK) provides rich blacks and gloss uniformity on glossy and satin photographic papers.
How do light ink channels like PFI-106PC and PFI-106PM affect consumption?
Lighter tint inks are used heavily across light backgrounds, skin tones, and subtle gradients to eliminate visible dot grain. Because these shades fire more frequently in photo and poster graphics, PFI-106PC and PFI-106PM often run out sooner than standard cyan and magenta cartridges.
Are PFI-106 ink cartridges hot-swappable during active print runs?
The imagePROGRAF iPF6300S features built-in sub-tanks that hold ink in reserve. This allows you to replace a depleted PFI-106 cartridge while the printer is actively printing without interrupting the job or causing media waste.
