Your Canon imageCLASS MF4270 uses the FX9 toner cartridge series. Ink Depot has been supplying reliable consumables for this printer since Sep 2009. Designed as a compact monochrome laser multifunction printer for routine office document workflow, it relies on an integrated toner and drum design. Our 4.8 Google rating proves it: we consistently supply premium cartridges backed by rock-solid reliability. Switching to compatible FX9 twin packs offers substantial savings on routine paperwork without sacrificing text sharpness.
Expected Page Output and Replacement Cycles
Standard FX9 Black toner cartridges are evaluated under ISO/IEC 19752 testing standards for monochrome laser cartridges, producing an estimated yield of 2,000 pages at standard 5% page coverage. High-volume document printing may deplete toner faster when outputting dense text blocks or detailed graphics.
| Cartridge Number | Type | Colour | Page Yield | Cost Per Page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FX9 | Standard | Black | 2,000 | $0.066 |
Cost Per Page = Total Cartridge Price ÷ Page Yield (at 5% coverage). Prices based on Genuine cartridges.

Consumable Strategy Insight
The Canon FX9 features an all-in-one cartridge design that combines the toner supply and photosensitive drum into a single unit. Replacing the FX9 cartridge automatically installs a fresh drum roller, preventing optical wear artifacts from appearing on your printed documents.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the Canon FX9 cartridge combine toner and drum into one unit?
Canon designed the FX9 as an all-in-one cartridge so that the photosensitive imaging drum and toner reservoir are replaced simultaneously. This eliminates the need to purchase separate drum units and guarantees clean, streak-free text output with every replacement.
How does 5% page coverage affect actual FX9 page yield?
The 2,000-page rating is based on standard ISO/IEC 19752 testing, which represents roughly a short paragraph or basic letterhead. Printing multi-page reports, bold tables, or logos increases toner consumption, which reduces the total page output per cartridge accordingly.
Can I install an FX9 bundle pack even if I only print occasionally?
Yes. Unlike liquid inkjet cartridges that can dry out over time, dry laser toner inside an FX9 cartridge has a long shelf life when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct light, making twin-pack bundles an ideal way to reduce unit costs.
