Brother MFC-8910DW Toner Cartridges
Shop toner cartridges for your Brother MFC-8910DW, which uses the Brother TN-3310, TN-3340, and TN-3360 toner cartridge series along with DR-3325 drum units. Ink Depot has supplied reliable consumables for this high-speed monochrome laser multifunction printer since Sep 2012. Upgrading from standard TN-3310 options to high-yield TN-3340 cartridges drastically reduces replacement frequency during heavy document production. Our 4.8 Google rating reflects a long-standing track record of premium cartridge performance.
Expected page output and replacement cycles
Page yields for Brother monochrome toners are calculated under ISO/IEC 19752 standards based on 5% page coverage. High-volume workplace environments achieve far better cost efficiency with TN-3340 cartridges, which yield up to 8,000 pages compared to 3,000 pages from standard TN-3310 units.
| Cartridge Number | Type | Colour | Page Yield | Cost Per Page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TN-3310 | Standard | Black | 3,000 | $0.057 |
| TN-3340 | High Yield | Black | 8,000 | $0.037 |
Cost Per Page = Total Cartridge Price ÷ Page Yield (at 5% coverage). Prices based on Genuine cartridges.
Managing separate DR-3325 drum units
The Brother MFC-8910DW uses a two-piece consumable design where the toner cartridge seats directly into a separate DR-3325 drum assembly. Experience Tip: The DR-3325 drum unit has a rated lifespan of 30,000 pages, meaning it typically outlasts roughly three to four high-yield TN-3340 toner changes before requiring replacement.
Choosing between genuine and compatible cartridges
Choosing compatible TN-3340 cartridges offers substantial cost savings for everyday workplace document printing. Under Australian Consumer Law, using compatible cartridges does not void your printer warranty. When replacing toner, leave the DR-3325 drum unit in the printer frame and only unlatch the exhausted TN-3310 or TN-3340 toner cartridge to avoid resetting your drum counter prematurely.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know whether to replace the TN-3340 toner or the DR-3325 drum unit?
The printer displays separate alert messages for low toner and drum end-of-life. Toner depletes every few thousand pages, whereas the DR-3325 drum unit lasts for 30,000 pages and only needs changing when specific drum warnings appear or physical background shadowing develops.
Can I switch from a standard TN-3310 cartridge to a high-yield TN-3340 cartridge without extra modifications?
Yes, both TN-3310 and TN-3340 cartridges use identical outer dimensions and slot into the same DR-3325 drum frame. The TN-3340 simply holds more toner powder inside, increasing yield from 3,000 to 8,000 pages.
Why is the cost per page lower when using TN-3340 compatible cartridges in office environments?
Compatible TN-3340 cartridges deliver the same 8,000-page output as original Brother toners at a fraction of the unit price, reducing printing costs down to less than a cent per page for mono office documents.
