Our 4.8 Google Star rating shows that our customers consistently receive high-quality cartridges backed by reliable performance.
Expected Page Output and Replacement Cycles
Monochrome toner yields for the Brother HL-5380DN are measured using ISO/IEC 19752 industry standards under 5% page coverage. High-volume office environments benefit significantly from super high-yield options, which extend print cycles and decrease cost per page.
| Cartridge Number | Type | Colour | Page Yield | Cost Per Page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TN-3290 | High Yield | Black | 8,000 | $0.036 |
Cost Per Page = Total Cartridge Price ÷ Page Yield (at 5% coverage). Prices based on Genuine cartridges.
Choosing Between Genuine and Compatible Options
Choosing between OEM Brother toners and compatible alternatives comes down to budget and print volume demands. Compatible TN-3250 and TN-3290 cartridges offer significant cost savings while maintaining clear text output on office documents. Under Australian Consumer Law, using compatible cartridges does not void your printer warranty. DR-3215 Drum Unit Requirements
The DR-3215 drum unit is a separate imaging component rated for up to 25,000 pages, operating independently from the toner cartridge. It outlasts roughly three super high-yield TN-3290 toners before wear starts affecting print clarity.
Best Way to Stock These Toners
For routine document printing, stock super high-yield TN-3290 toners to minimise per-page costs. If opting for budget-friendly compatible options, all purchases are backed by our money-back guarantee and clear returns policy. Free delivery applies on all orders over $99. Pro Tip
Always check if light print output is due to an exhausted DR-3215 drum unit rather than empty toner, as replacing toner early will not resolve print faintness caused by a worn drum surface.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install a super high-yield TN-3290 cartridge if my printer currently uses a TN-3250?
Yes, both TN-3250 and TN-3290 toners share identical external dimensions and fit into the same drum slot; the TN-3290 simply holds more toner for extended printing.
Does replacing the TN-3290 toner cartridge automatically reset the DR-3215 drum counter?
No, the TN-3290 toner and DR-3215 drum unit operate on completely separate lifecycles, meaning changing toner does not affect or reset the drum counter.
How many TN-3290 toner cartridges can I use before needing a new DR-3215 drum unit?
Because the DR-3215 drum unit is rated for 25,000 pages, it typically lasts through approximately three full TN-3290 super high-yield cartridges before needing replacement.
