Expert Advice
Always store unopened Ricoh toner cartridges horizontally in a cool, dark environment. Storing laser toners on their end causes dry toner powder to settle unevenly on one side, which can cause temporary light prints or uneven toner distribution across the drum unit when first installed.

Replace Just One Colour
If only one colour has run dry, there's no need to replace the rest - a single Genuine 821251 Black cartridge (from $344.50) lets you replace only the colour that has run out.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the 821251 Black toner have a lower page yield (11,000 pages) than the colour toners (13,000 pages)?
Page yields are measured under ISO/IEC 19798 standards at 5% coverage per colour. Because text documents typically feature higher density black coverage per page compared to individual colour separation layers, Ricoh formulates black toner capacities to align with typical enterprise printing ratios.
Can I replace individual colour cartridges as they run out, or do I need to replace all four at once?
You can replace individual toners as they deplete. The Ricoh SP C435DN monitors each colour channel separately via internal sensors, allowing you to run each cartridge until depleted without affecting the remaining toners.
How does ambient temperature affect stored 821251-821254 toner cartridges before installation?
Laser toner powder fuses at high temperatures. Storing cartridges above 35°C can cause the internal toner powder to clump, leading to print streaking or premature toner transfer failure once loaded into the printer.
Is cartridge number 821251 the same as part number 821251?
Yes, 821251 is the official Ricoh manufacturer part code for the Black toner cartridge in this series; both numbers refer to the exact same high-yield genuine product.
