Ink Depot has been in the ink and toner industry for nearly 7 years now, and during that time we have been asked pretty much every question that you can think of in relation to printers and printer cartridges! Over the next couple of blog articles we are going to attempt to answer some of those questions, and share some if the more useful hints and tips we have picked up along the way!
What does XL, or High Yield actually mean?!
Simply put, a high yield cartridge will print more pages than a standard yield cartridge, and even though they may seem more expensive initially per cartridge, overall the ‘cost per print’ is generally lower, meaning that it will save you money in the long run!
It is important to note that not every high yield cartridge will have an XL on the end. For example, when comparing cartridges for the Brother MFC-7440 printer, the standard yield cartridge is the TN-2130 (which is expected to print around 1,500 pages), but the high yield cartridge isn’t conveniently called the TN-2130XL, it is the TN-2150 cartridge (2,600 pages!).
But wait, that’s a huge difference! Will the cartridge still fit?! If the high yield cartridge is listed as being compatible with your printer (either on our website, or in your user manual), then yes, it will still fit in the same slot as the standard yield cartridge.
Still confused? Thankfully Ink Depot has made it easy! Simply search for your printer using our ‘Printer Search’ and our site will list all of the cartridges that we sell that will fit into your printer! We also clearly label high yield cartridges, and show you the page yield differences to help you make an informed decision on which cartridge to buy.
